MINUTES OF SDDTA GENERAL ANNUAL MEETING JANUARY 15, 2010

             Next meeting is a General Meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:00pm, BTC Clubhouse

 

I.                   CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:35 pm by President Geoff Griffin. Members present were: Ralph Anderson, Robert Bacon, Mike Bauer, Larry Belinsky, Fred Circo, Don Daniels, Susan Delos Santos, Virginia Glass, Geoff Griffin, Fran Hunter, Carol Jory, Steve Kappes, Sandie Kindred, Barbara Kingston, Becky Kuba, Jim Lackritz, Fran McCloskey, Tony Perez, Anne Podney, Ben Press, Doug Purvis, Suella Steel, and Lesley Waite.

 

II.                MINUTES: It was MSP to accept the minutes of December 15, 2009 with one correction to V.D by replacing word “tournament” with the word “meeting”.

 

III.             PRESIDENTS REPORT: Geoff reported that a quorum of organizational member ballot votes were submitted for board members whose three year terms were due for renewal.

 

IV.             TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer’s report was reviewed. It was MSP to accept the Treasurer’s report.

 

V.                COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

A.        Community Programs: A Family Tennis Day is planned for January 31 at the La Jolla YMCA.

B.        Grievance: Tony reported the issues discussed at the last meeting have been resolved and closed.

C.        Facilities: Need more rackets. 

D.        Hall of Fame: Larry reported that two new members are needed for the Selection Committee. It was recommended that Larry continue the selection process as he has in the past.

E.         Nominations: The committee presented the new slate of officers for 2010: Geoff Griffin, President; Lesley Waite, 1st Vice President; Fran Hunter, 2nd Vice President; Steve Kappes, Treasurer; Barbara Kingston, Recording Secretary; Roz King, Corresponding Secretary. Outgoing Treasurer, Mike Bauer was thanked by Geoff Griffin for his dedication and hard work. Incoming Treasurer, Steve Kappes was welcomed to the position. It was MSP to accept the officers as presented.

The committee also presented and nominated Shelley Susman for an open position on the board of directors. It was MSP to accept Shelley’s nomination to the board.

F.         Sanctionings: Jeff is looking into filling in a couple of open dates.

G.        Leagues: All is going well. Out of 77 cities San Diego was the 2nd largest league location. Phoenix finished in first place.

H.        Ratings: National has changed over 1100 ratings nationwide – both up and down. 

I.           Wheelchair: Board members Steve Kappes and M.A. Hillier are helping Geoff with disabled vets. They’ve already had two events which went very well. They’re trying to work with the group twice a month. Anne reported that the District has $1000 budgeted for wheelchair programs that has not been used.

J.           Yearbook: The publication will be passed out after the dinner and was mailed to members today.  

 

VI.             OLD BUSINESS: none reported

 

 

VII.          NEW BUSINESS: Larry mentioned that Ben’s new book is out and available for purchase.

 

VIII.    ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 5:50pm
