Wounded Warrior Tennis Program at San Diego Veterans Day Parade

The San Diego Wounded Warrior Tennis Program has been invited to participate in the Veterans Day Parade in downtown San Diego on Wednesday November 11 (Veterans Day), and you are invited to join the parade group!
While the parade honors veterans from every generation and branch of service, this year's parade commemorates the 35th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm. Veteran/Astronaut/Senator Mark Kelly will be the Grand Marshal along with other distinguished marshals who served during that period.
Offering free weekly tennis clinics as a means of rehabilitation for service members and veterans who have become wounded, ill, or injured, the San Diego Wounded Warrior Tennis Program is aligned with Naval Medical Center San Diego's Wounded, Ill, and Injured Wellness Program, which is "designed to meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of injured troops. Participation in activities provides the tools needed to reintegrate back into the community, enhance their quality of life, and promote living a fit and healthy lifestyle."
The parade will be a one-mile stroll down Harbor Drive, past USS MIDWAY, and finish on Pacific Highway. More than 70 veteran groups will participate. It will be livestreamed on NBC 7/39, and our own Wounded Warrior tennis player and USCG Veteran Holly Shaffner will co-announce the groups as they pass the VIP reviewing area.
We will meet at 9:00am at the "Guardian of Water" statue/fountain between the County Administration building and Harbor Drive. We recommend taking the trolley to the County Center / Little Italy stop (Blue and Green lines) and walking to the meeting point from there.
The parade starts at 10:00am. We will wear matching t-shirts and carry our banner and tennis racquets in the parade. We will have foam balls to hit to the crowd. We should be finished by 11:30am. After the parade you are welcome to stay for complimentary food and beverages at the Protector Brewery Hide Site on Harbor Drive.
Please RSVP here and forward this invitation to anyone else who would like to join us. Family and friends of all ages are welcome. Let's show San Diego our love of tennis and how we have the best Veteran sports program in town!
