Oceanside Resident Wins the SCTA Foundation Raffle from San Diego Tennis Fest

By Karen Ronney

Liza Rogers thought it would be great fun to attend San Diego Tennis Fest for her second straight year. After all, she had a blast at the 2024 event. Rogers, who lives and plays tennis in the small community of Oceanside, brought her fiancé to share the experience with him recently at Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego. The Southern California Tennis Association Foundation is a proud sponsor of this event.

Rogers said she was thrilled to receive instruction from the approximately 70 coaches and teaching professionals including 50 Racquet Sports Professional Association (RSPA) pros, who volunteered their time to instruct across the 25 courts at the historic tennis club at Morley Field. She entered a raffle hosted by the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation and her lucky ticket was selected to win a $100 Gift Card for Tennis Warehouse.

“All the representatives and coaches were first class,” Rogers said. “They were friendly and informative regarding strokes, racquets, grip positioning, etc. One of the best things was the ability to test many different racquet brands on the court.”

And the winner? Rogers decided to buy a Babolat frame with her Tennis Warehouse Gift Card.

“We are so happy to help Liza with her desire to purchase a new racket,” said Linda Milan, the Executive Director of the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation. “Making tennis accessible for players like her is our mission. Whether it’s playing in clinics, trying new rackets, getting tips from pros or even winning prizes– all of it supports our goal of sponsoring inclusive community events like Tennis Fest. We want to make tennis an equal-opportunity sport.”
